Clemens Thieme

Clemens Thieme ( born September 7, 1631 Großdittmannsdorf in Dresden, † March 27 1668 in Zeitz ) was a German composer of the Baroque.

Thieme learned at a young age, the first musical foundations in the theorbists and tenor Philip Stolle in Dresden. At the age of 11 years he accompanied in September 1642 Heinrich Schütz as a choir boy to Copenhagen. In 1651, he was an instrumentalist in the Electoral Saxon chapel and married in 1659 the daughter Emilie pharmacist Jockawort, with whom he had three sons and three daughters.

After he had tried in vain for a job in 1663 in Hamburg, he was appointed to mediation by Heinrich Schütz as concertmaster in the newly established court orchestra Maurice of Saxony to the court in Zeitz. Here he died at 1668.
