Clement S. Hill

Clement Sidney Hill ( born February 13, 1813 near Lebanon, Kentucky, † January 5, 1892 ) was an American politician. From 1853 to 1855 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

After a good primary education Clement Hill attended the St. Mary 's College. After a subsequent law degree in 1837 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Lebanon to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Whig Party launched a political career. In 1839 he was a deputy in the House of Representatives from Kentucky.

In the congressional elections of 1852 Hill was in the fifth electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat James W. Stone on March 4, 1853. Until March 3, 1855, he was able to complete a Legilstaurperiode in Congress, which was dominated by discussions about slavery prior to the Civil War. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Hill practiced as a lawyer again. In 1874 he applied unsuccessfully in the fourth district to return to Congress. Clement Hill died on January 5, 1892 in his hometown of Lebanon and was also buried there.
