Clemente Yerovi

Clemente Yerovi Indaburu ( born August 10, 1904 in Barcelona, † 19 July 1981 in Guayaquil ) was an Ecuadorian politician and from March 30 to November 16, 1966 President of his country.

From 1936 to 1956 he was president of a number of private and state-owned banks in Ecuador. 1948-1950 he was Minister of Economic Affairs in the Cabinet Galo Plaza. 1951-1955 he was a senator. After the abdication of the military junta in 1966, he was interimisch as a party of Independent President of Ecuador and prepared as such before a Constituent Assembly and new elections. He also led the civil rights and the right to strike and the right of assembly again and dismissed all political prisoners from custody.

From 1974 to 1976 Yerovi represented his country as ambassador to the Holy See.
