Cliff Morgan

Isaac Clifford " Cliff" Morgan, OBE ( born April 7, 1930 in Trebanog, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Glamorgan; † August 29, 2013 ) was a Welsh rugby union player who was used as a connector. He was active for the Welsh national team and the British and Irish Lions.

Career

Morgan began his playing career after the end of World War II when Cardiff RFC. In 1951, he was first employed in the national team against Ireland. A year later he succeeded with the Wales Grand Slam in the Five Nations. In 1955 he was nominated for the tour of the Lions to South Africa and used in all four games. In the first test he put a try. At the end of the tour he was voted the best player.

With the end of his active career Morgan began as a sports reporter on TV at the BBC. Particularly well known as a commentator, he was in 1973, when he commented on the legendary game of the Barbarians against New Zealand and the attempt by Gareth Edwards. BBC Wales awarded him 2007 for his life's work.
