Cliffard D. Carlson

Cliffard Dale Carlson ( born December 30, 1915 in Aurora, Illinois; † August 28, 1977 in Dixon, Illinois ) was an American politician. In the years 1972 and 1973, he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Cliffard Carlson attended the public schools of his home and then the North Central College in Naperville. Subsequently, he studied until 1939 at the University of New Mexico. In the following years he was a member of the Reserve of the United States Navy. Later he worked in the craft. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In the years 1960, 1964 and 1968 he was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions relevant. He also served on the State Board of Republicans in Iliinois.

Following the resignation of deputies Charlotte Thompson Reid Carlson was at the due election for the seat 15 as their successors in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 4 April 1972. Since he did not run in the regular congressional elections of 1972, he could only finish the current term in Congress until January 3, 1973.

In 1974 Carlson applied unsuccessfully to return to Congress. He died on August 28, 1977 in Dixon.
