Climate Change Performance Index

The Climate Change Performance Index (english: Climate Change Performance Index ) is a system developed by the German environment and development organization German Watch tool for comparing and evaluating the climate change performance of all states, which together are responsible for over 90 % of global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions. The Climate Change Performance Index was first published in 2005.

Indicators

The evaluation and comparison of the individual national climate services will be based on the same indicators, taking into account the particular performance of real-world emissions ( per capita emission trend and the total energy-related CO2 emissions) as well as the local climate policy in the country.

Trend indicators

The trend indicators to measure the evolution of CO2 emissions in the energy, transport, buildings and industry ( change between average emissions for the periods 1998-2000 and 2001-2003). The trend indicators go with 50 percent in the overall standings of the CCPI.

Basic indicators

The four basic indicators

  • CO2 emissions per capita
  • CO2 emissions per unit of gross domestic product ( GDP)
  • Primary energy consumption per unit of GDP
  • CO2 emissions per primary energy consumption

Flow with a total of 30 per cent in the index.

Climate policy indicators

The fact that measures to reduce CO2 emissions often take several years to have their full effect is taken into account with these indicators and contributes to 20 % of the total score on.
