Climax Blues Band

The Climax Blues Band Climax Chicago Blues Band before, is a British blues-rock band that was formed in Stafford in 1969. The original band members were Colin Cooper (vocals / sax / harmonica), Derek Holt ( guitar), Peter Haycock (guitar), Arthur Wood (keyboards ), Richard Jones ( bass) and George Newsome (drums). Soon Derek Holt moved to the bass, the band became a quintet.

Over time, there have been several more line-up changes ( for example, John Cuffley took over the drums, Anton Farmer keyboards ). In 1972, the band changed its name to Climax Blues Band, to prevent confusion with the American band Chicago. The commercial breakthrough came with the Stamp Album ( 1975) and the Hit Could not Get It Right from the album Gold Plated (1976).

In the 1980s, the success was gradually, not least after leaving Pete Haycocks 1984. Haycock died on October 31, 2013 at the age of 62 years.

In 1993 there was a comeback with the album Blues From The Attic. The Climax Blues Band also made thereafter to, with only multi-instrumentalist and bandleader Cooper was of the original cast doing, who passed away in Stafford on July 3, 2008.

In recent years, incarnations of the band consists of Johnny Pugh (vocals, sax, harp ), Lester Hunt ( vocals, guitars ), George Glover (vocals, keyboards), Neil Simpson (bass), Roy Adams ( drums). Johnny Pugh has left the band for health reasons.
