Climbing route

Climbing route (often just route Austro also climbing Lead or Lead, in Saxony also climbing route ) is a term from the field of climbing and mountaineering.

The climbing route here describes the default route to climb a summit or a rock wall. The climbing routes are described in detail with difficulty and partly also shown as a drawing. The technical term for these drawings topos hot. Using these drawings, the climber can make a picture of the course of the route. In addition, many references to securing opportunities, hooks and stands are available. If a climbing route goes over several rope lengths, the level of difficulty of each rope length and the so-called key point is specified to allow an ascent can be planned and accurately assessed.

Climbing routes are given names which are mostly determined by the first ascents for each route. In relevant magazines and special rock climbing guides climbing routes are published. The special case of a climbing route represents the Direttissima, which is based on the fall line and often nearly perpendicular leads to the goal.

Colloquially, a route is also often referred to as a line, a route in bouldering as a problem.
