Clinch County, Georgia

The Clinch County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Homerville.

Geography

The County is located in southern Georgia and on the south by Florida. It has an area of ​​2135 square kilometers, of which 39 square kilometers of water surface are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Atkinson County, Ware County, Echols County and Lanier County.

History

Clinch County was established on February 14, 1850 from parts of Ware County and Lowndes County. It was named for General Duncan Clinch, of the Indian chief Osceola defeated in the Indian War of 1812 in Florida, and later served in the U.S. Congress.
