Clinton County (Kentucky)

Clinton County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Albany, which was named after the city in New York State. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in southern Kentucky, on the border with Tennessee and has an area of 532 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water surface. It borders in Kentucky clockwise to the following counties: Russell County, Wayne County and Cumberland County.

History

Clinton County was formed on February 20, 1836 from parts of Cumberland County and Wayne County. It was named after the Governor of the State of New York, DeWitt Clinton.
