Clinton County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) St. Johns.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographic center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and has an area of ​​1488 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Gratiot County, Shiawassee County, Ingham County, Eaton County and Ionia County.

History

Clinton County was formed in 1831 as an original county of free territory. It was named after DeWitt Clinton, a governor of New York and responsible for the construction of the Erie Canal.
