Clinton Morrison

Clinton Morrison ( born May 14, 1979 in Tooting ) is an Irish football player of Jamaican origin, stands in July 2010 at Sheffield Wednesday in the Football League One under contract.

The English-born Irishman began his career in the youth teams of Crystal Palace, for its professional team, he made ​​his debut in the Premier League on 10 May 1998. In the match against Sheffield Wednesday he came on in the 82nd minute for the attacker Neil Shipperley and marked eight minutes later the 1-0 winning goal for the Eagles. This was his only use in that season. In the following season 1998/99 he already was able to earn a regular place in Palace, played 37 games for the now relegated to the Football League Championship club and scored twelve goals for the team from London. In the following three years he was able to impose one of the most important players of the team and scored a total of 61 league goals for Crystal Palace.

In summer 2002, the Premier League newly promoted Birmingham City bought it for 4.25 million pounds of Londoners. Also in the season 2004/05 Morrison could keep up with Birmingham in the English top flight, but transferred to the summer of 2005 back to his youth club Crystal Palace. He finished the next three years each as top scorer of the team. On April 12, 2008, he also scored in the game against Scunthorpe United his 100th league goal for Crystal Palace.

In the summer of 2008, however, Morrison signed a contract with Coventry City and joined so that the Sky Blues to. Also at Coventry he could again secure a regular place and was one of the most prolific attackers of the team.

In July 2010 he signed after Coventry City offered him a new contract, a temporary two-year contract at third division Sheffield Wednesday.

National

Clinton Morrison debuted in 2001 for the Irish national football team. After he scored one goal in the first three games, he was mobilized in the Irish selection for the World Cup 2002, but not used in any of the four World Cup games. In the following four years he received regular levies for the Irish national team and achieved a total of nine goals. His last squad followed in 2006, and since then he has not been nominated for Ireland for an international match.
