Clinton is a city in North Carolina, United States. According to the last census in 2003, living in the city 8636 inhabitants. The city is the county seat of Sampson County.

History

The first settlers arrived in 1740 in the area of Clinton. The town received its town charter in 1852. Centrally located in Orange County, Clinton since its inception an important agricultural center in the region.
