Clinton is a town in Oneida County in the U.S. state of New York with 1,952 inhabitants ( 2000 census ). Clinton is named after the first Governor of New York and later Vice President of the United States George Clinton.

The village of Clinton houses among others the Hamilton College and is part of the city Kirkland and is known as the village schools, because had there in the 19th century, numerous private schools located.

History

The first settlement of the modern era took place around 1787. The village was incorporated in 1843 in Kirkland.
