Clipart

Originally was understood clipart illustrations that have been cut from public domain or provided free clipart books and pasted into your own creations, akin to the collage; hence the English word meaning clip " cut " and art " art."

In German the term Clipart is almost exclusively as a collective term for digital decoration of desktop publishing and images ( often in comic or cartoon style) used to embed on websites, flyers, invitations and the like. They serve as a substitute for reproductions of artwork with too many distracting details.

Clipart are often stored as raster graphics, not vector graphics. Thus they are only sacrificing quality and due scalable.

Screen Beans

Widely known and clipart are Screen Beans. Characteristic of these figures, which represent everyday situations in some funny way, is the use of predominantly black color. They became known for example by old Microsoft Word versions. Screen Beans are there primarily as WMF files, and already as animated GIF images.
