Clive Burr

Clive Burr ( born March 8, 1957; † March 12, 2013 ) was a British musician and in 1980 drummer of the rock band Iron Maiden.

Career

Burr played on their debut album Iron Maiden (1980 ), as well as Killers ( 1981) and The Number of the Beast (1982). After the international success "The Beast on the Road " tour, he was replaced because of his restless life change Nicko McBrain through.

Before Iron Maiden Clive Burr was a member of the NWOBHM band Samson. In 1983, he joined Nicko McBrains former band Trust. He then founded Escape and shortly thereafter Stratus. With the latter band released 1984 album Throwing Shapes.

In 1985 he was a member of the initiative, launched by Jonathan King Supergroup Gogmagog and met here on his former Iron Maiden bandmates Paul Di'Anno. In 1987, the later Asia singer John Payne his own band under the name of The Passion. Payne committed for Clive Burr, the band also consisted of keyboardist Andy Nye (from the Michael Schenker Group ), bassist Mel Gabbitas and the ex - Mike Oldfield guitarist Ant Glynne.

In 1988 he was a member of the band Elixir. Then he plays with Dee Snider in Desperado and with this band released the album Bloodied, But Unbowed. In 1995 he went on tour with Praying Mantis, as their drummer Bruce Bisland had his hand broken.

Clive Burr was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis ( MS). He then founded the Clive Burr MS Trust Fund, a foundation that has committed to the fight against MS. Iron Maiden gave several benefit concerts for him, the last on 24 June 2007. Burr died in the night from 12 to 13 March 2013.
