Clive Rowlands

Daniel Clive Thomas Rowlands ( born May 14, 1938 in Upper Cwmtwrch, Powys ) is a former Welsh rugby union player and coach.

Rowlands made ​​his international debut in 1963 against England. In all of his 14 international appearances, he was also captain of the Welsh selection. In 1965, he led Wales to win the Triple Crown. He played for the club Abercrave RFC, Pontypool RFC, Llanelli RFC and Swansea RFC. In Pontypool and Swansea, he was also captain.

After his career end Rowlands in 1968 as the successor to David Nash as Welsh coach. He led his country 1968-1974 and won, among others, the 1971 Grand Slam in the Five Nations. At the first World Cup in 1987, he was team manager of the Welsh. Two years later, he served as Manager of the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia. In the same year he became president of the Welsh Rugby Union.
