Cloncurry River

BW

The Cloncurry River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Queensland. He does not water all year round, but only during the rainy season.

Geography

River

The river rises at Mount Tracey on the northern slopes of the Selwyn Range. He turns first to the north- west to the small town Malbon, where the Malbon River discharges.

He turns to the north and flows through the city Cloncurry, where he crossed the Flinders Highway. Then he describes an arc to the northeast and crosses under the Wills Developmental Road at Sedan Dip. East side of the road he takes to the Gilliat River and turns its course to the northwest, along the road and almost parallel to the Flinders River.

In Canobe the Dugald River flows. Further north accompanies the Burke Development Road to Cloncurry River, which again turns north of Cowan Downs to the northeast and flows Bang Bang in the Flinders River.

In its lower reaches, the river runs through flat grassland. It forms with the Flinders River and the Saxby River, a broad floodplain with many parallel channels.
