Closet drama

As a reading book or drama drama of a literary work is called, which although is followed by the genus-specific shape of the drama, but is not designed for implementation on a stage. It therefore is not aimed at viewers, but to a reader.

A closet drama works regardless of the capabilities of the stage equipment, action duration and number of introduced individuals do not need to be limited, there must not be a closer look at the needs of the theater audience or a director.

It may happen, however, that originally wrote as closet dramas pieces over time find their way into the theater, such as Goethe's Faust and Schiller's The Robbers.
