Cloud County, Kansas

Cloud County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Concordia.

Geography

The County is located in northern Kansas, is about 40 km away from Nebraska and has an area of 1861 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Republic County, Washington County, Clay County, Ottawa County, Mitchell County Jewell County.

History

Cloud County was formed on 27 February 1850 as original county of free territory and is one of the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after an officer of the northern states during the American Civil War.

According to the census of 2000, there were 10,268 people in Cloud County. Of these, 662 people were living in collective centers, the other inhabitants lived in 4163 households, and 2697 families.
