Cloud County, Kansas
Cloud County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Concordia.
Geography
The County is located in northern Kansas, is about 40 km away from Nebraska and has an area of 1861 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Republic County, Washington County, Clay County, Ottawa County, Mitchell County Jewell County.
History
Cloud County was formed on 27 February 1850 as original county of free territory and is one of the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. It was named after an officer of the northern states during the American Civil War.

According to the census of 2000, there were 10,268 people in Cloud County. Of these, 662 people were living in collective centers, the other inhabitants lived in 4163 households, and 2697 families. The population density was 6 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 98.30 percent White, 0.34 percent African American, 0.25 percent Native American, 0.25 percent Asian, and 0.13 percent from other races; 0.73 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.60 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 4163 households out of which 27.1 percent of children under 18 who lived with them. 55.1 percent were married couples living together, 6.6 percent were single mothers and 35.2 percent were non-families. 30.8 percent of all households were single-person households and 15.9 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.89 persons.
22.4 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 10.4 percent of 18 to 24 years 21.9 percent between 25 and 44, 22.2 percent between 45 and 64 years, and 23.2 percent were 65 years of age or older. The average age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 90.6 males. For every 100 adult women 18 years and older 86.6 males.
The median income for a household was $ 31,758, and the median income for a family was $ 39,745. Males had a median income of $ 27,166, women $ 20,114. The per capita income was $ 17,536. 6.4 percent of families and 10.8 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
