Cloud cuckoo land
The word cloud cuckoo is a loan translation of the Greek word Νεφελοκοκκυγία Nephelokokkygia that the birds comes from Aristophanes ' comedy. It refers to a city in the clouds, the birds have built as an intermediate realm. Meanwhile, the term is similar to that of the air lock used: as a utopia with no grip, so without a sense of reality.
The philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, translated the word already in 1813 in his treatise On the Fourfold Root of the Principle of Sufficient Reason in this way, both later in his major work The World as Will and Representation and elsewhere. He gave him doing an extended meaning by accusing other philosophers, only the " cloud cuckoo land " to talk. While some Aristophanes Translator previously chose the terms " cloud cuckoo Castle " and " Kuckuckswolkenhof " was at Ludwig Seeger also from the " cloud cuckoo land " is mentioned.
Karl Kraus wrote in 1923 a more modern version of the birds with the title cloud cuckoo land.
