Cloverdale is a city in Sonoma County in the U.S. state of California with 6,831 inhabitants. The urban area extends over 6.5 km ².

Within the San Francisco Bay Area Cloverdale is the northernmost city. It is located 135 km north of San Francisco and is connected to it via U.S. Route 101. A few hundred meters to the east flows past in a north-south direction of the Russian River to the city.

Cloverdale is part of the Alexander Valley AVA, a major wine region.
