CLS Communication

CLS Communication is a provider of language services with headquarters in Switzerland, which is mainly active in the areas of translation, copywriting, writing and editing. The company has 19 offices on three continents and serves customers primarily in the financial services, life sciences and telecommunications industries as well as from the legal department.

The company employs around 250 in-house translators and copywriters and can rely on a network of 2400 external partners. According to information on the company's website CLS Communication has more than 900 customers (as of 2011 ).

History

The company was formed in 1997 from the outsourced voice services of Swiss Bank Corporation ( now UBS ) and the " Zurich " Insurance Company (now Zurich Insurance Group ). In 2002 the company was divided the translation services of the two leading Swiss telecommunications company Swisscom and Sunrise, as well as the Swiss Raiffeisen Bank. In the same year CLS opened offices in London and New York. With the acquisition of Richard Gray Financial Translation ( RGFT ), headquartered in London in 2004, came ever another office in the UK, Paris and Madrid added.

The company later established offices in Copenhagen and Frankfurt. Between 2005 and 2007 the company expanded with offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing to Asia. By further business process outsourcing CLS also took over the language teams of Swiss Re, Lombard Odier, Danske Bank and others.

In 2003 the company became fully independent following a management buyout. 2009 the company won with Zurmont Madison, a Swiss managed private equity funds, a new majority shareholder. Zurmont Madison was of a capital increase and a partial buyout of existing shareholders. Subsequently acquired CLS Lexi- tech International, the largest Canadian translation services, and Scandinavian Translators in Denmark.

In January 2013, CLS Communication took over, which specializes in software localization and technical documentation translation agency 4 text. This office based in Berlin, employs 60 permanent employees and works with 200 freelance translators.
