Club Brugge K.V.

The FC Bruges ( officially: Club Brugge KV ) is a football club based in the Belgian city of Bruges. It was founded on 13 November 1891, is one of the oldest and also the most successful clubs in Belgium. In the city of Bruges, he is by far the most popular club next to the Cercle Bruges. The club plays its home games at the 30,000 -seat stadium from Jan Breydel.

The FC Bruges rose to the first Belgian Football League in 1959. Under the successful Austrian coach Ernst Happel 1976, the collection succeeded to the finals of the UEFA Cup and two years later at the European Cup of Champions. But the club lost to the British club Liverpool FC, respectively. In 1988 again succeeded in the semi-finals of the Uefa Cup, but lost the club against Espanyol. Also in 1992 failed the FC Bruges in the semifinals, this time in the European Cup winners to eventual winners Werder Bremen. In the years 1992/93, 2002/ 03, 2003/ 04 and 2005/06 FC Bruges came in the Champions League. In the season 2011/12 the German coach Christoph Daum led the club to the runner-up. Georges Leekens has replaced on the bench in summer 2012 Christoph Daum. In November Leekens was dismissed. The successor Juan Carlos Garrido, who signed a contract until the end of the season with an option for another year.
