Clube Nacional de Benguela

Clube Nacional de Benguela is a football club from the city of Benguela. His club logo is an elephant, his club colors are black and white stripes.

History

The club was founded in 1920 as Sports Clube de Portugal Benguela. He won the championship of the Portuguese Overseas Province of Angola in the years 1952, 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1964.

Even before Angola's independence from Portugal in 1973, the club adopted its current name. The greatest success of the association after independence in 1975 was winning the cup in 1980, the Taça de Angola. Even if the competition was not yet official, the club qualified for the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1981. However, where they lost their two games very much and already eliminated from the first round. In 1979, she reached the final in Luanda by the Angolan championship, but lost this with 1:2 against CD Primeiro de Agosto. After a weaker phase with descent they went back for the 2012 season in the highest Angolan league, the Girabola. The season then finished the club in last place (16th ) and got off again.
