CNBC Asia

CNBC Asia is an Asian economic and financial news channel, which is operated by NBC Universal and headquartered in Singapore. CNBC Asia is the Asian offshoot of the U.S. CNBC (Consumer News and Business Channel ).

History

CNBC Asia went on the air in 1995. Parent company of Hong Kong-based channel was the radio and television network NBC. The transmitter produced, among other formats according to the U.S. model, for example, The Money Wheel and Business Tonight.

In February 1998, the station merged with the Asian News Channel of Dow Jones, Asia Business News ( ABN ). The merger was associated with a massive job cuts at the Hong Kong site, the station moved to Singapore but to. The program was completely reorganized. Much of the program was taken over by ABN. Also, the graphics came from then ABN and differed markedly from CNBC Europe and CNBC U.S.. Only in the summer of 1998, the station introduced new programs including Lunch Money and MarketWatch. In the first months after the merger, we used the name of CNBC Asia Business News, later the shorter term CNBC Asia prevailed. In July 2005, NBC Universal announced plans to acquire the stake from Dow Jones back. Since December of the year CNBC Asia heard again all the way to conglomerate. Program

CNBC Asia produces weekdays around nine hours of live program. Between 14:30 and 17 clock ( China Standard Time ) will be broadcasted in the program Squawk Box Europe. In addition, the channel takes over from 20 clock all formats of CNBC U.S., including, Squawk Box and Closing Bell. The weekend programs throughout the station group to be used. Regional programs and collaborations

Together with local partners, CNBC Asia provides regional news channel CNBC - TV18 in India, Nikkei CNBC in Japan, CNBC Pakistan. In addition, there are close collaborations with Etomato and Chosun in South Korea, China Business Network, and the television channel ANC in the Philippines. The program " Managing Asia" will also be broadcast on board Singapore Airlines. There is also since December 28, 2009 an offshoot of South Korea called SBS - CNBC in cooperation with CNBC Asia.
