CNES

The Centre national d' études spatiales (French: le CNES ), the French space agency. The organization was founded in 1961. 1965 was launched by the now decommissioned space station Hammaguir in Algeria with the French launcher diamond the first satellite. The Guiana Space Centre in Kourou (French Guiana ) in 1969 and was completed. In 1975, the national missile program in favor of the European Ariane rocket was stopped.

In addition to the spaceport in Kourou, the CNES operates more ground stations for monitoring the Arianeflüge:

The CNES is also responsible for military next to civilian research and operates as the Syracuseprogramm for military communications satellites. Since 1993 it is under formally both the French Ministry of Research and the Ministry of Defence.
