CNIL

The Commission Nationale de l' Informatique et des Libertés ( CNIL ) is the national data protection authorities of France, based in Paris.

The CNIL was created by Act of 6 January 1978. It is an instruction independent administrative authority, whose 17 -member college is composed of four Members of Parliament, two members of the Economic and Social Council, six representatives of the highest French courts and five other qualified persons. The CNIL shall elect its President from among its members.

The CNIL is responsible for complaints, makes recommendations on proposed legislation from and also advises on the technical data protection ( data security).

She is a member of the Article 29 Data Protection Working Party, in which it is represented by Anne debit, and member of the International Conference of Data Protection Commissioner and the protection of privacy.
