Coahoma County, Mississippi

The Coahoma County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Clarksdale, which was named after John Clark, an early settler in the area.

History

The Coahoma County was formed on February 9, 1836 from parts of the Choctaw country. It was named after the Native American word for Puma.
