Coalition of Progressive Electors

The Coalition of Progressive Electors ( COPE, dt coalition of progressive voters ) is a local political party in the Canadian city of Vancouver. It was founded in 1968, when some center-left groups ( including the New Democratic Party and the Communist Party ) merged together to form a more vigorous opposition to the center-right Non -Partisan Association standing. COPE feels generally the objectives of social democracy committed.

COPE has to date provided a Mayor: In the local elections in 2002 the party won a majority in the city council and Larry Campbell was elected mayor. The politically tending to the center Campbell fell out with the left-wing members of COPE and took effect in 2005 from the party. Together with three City Council Members 2005 he founded Vision Vancouver.
