Coalville is a city and county seat of Summit County in the U.S. state of Utah.

The site covers an area of 8.4 km ² (3.3 mi ²), of which 1 sq. km of water.

History

Coalville was founded in 1859 by William Henderson Smith. It was formerly called Calk Creek. Coalville is a place with rich settler past. How many cities and towns, the country was first settled by the Mormons. William H. Smith crossed the area with goods and seed. He lost some of wheat from the car. When he saw on the way back that the wheat was grown very well without help, he decided that it is a good place to settle down. He convinced four families, to go with him in the spring of 1859 Calk Creek to move to. 1860 lived in Calk Creek already 15 families.
