Coat of arms of Bahrain

The coat of arms of Bahrain is known about since the year 1964.

Description

The coat of arms shows a red shield a white comma- tip section head of the shield.

The shield is encircled red and white laurel leaves are arranged.

The flag of Bahrain is divided transversely through the tip section in white and red to 1/3 to 2/3.

Originally a crown was intended as a symbol of the ruling power.

History

After other Arab states had adopted flags, it took some years, were created to other state symbols. First, the Scheichtum Bahrain introduced a coat of arms. It was designed in the 1930s by the British adviser to the former Emir of Bahrain, Sir Charles Belgrave. Belgrave, the last British adviser to the ruler, reduced the prongs of the flag of eight to three.
