Coat of arms of Libya

A uniform insignia for Libya does not currently exist. The state bodies use their own emblems.

History

The coat of arms of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya in 1977, with the withdrawal from the Federation of Arab Republics, adopted. It was shown instead of the Eagle of Saladin previously used the Quraysh Hawks - as opposed to the Egyptian or Syrian coat of arms hawks the Libyan Falcon looked henceforth but in the opposite direction. The green of the shield symbolized as the flag of Libya Islam and the so-called " Green Book ," Gaddafi with the principles of the Libyan revolution. The text on the golden ribbon meant " Federation of Arab Republics ".

The Seal of the National Transitional Council functioned from April 2011 to its dissolution in August 2012 as a national emblem of Libya. It showed a crescent moon and a star in the colors of the flag of Libya (red, black and green) and at the edge of the Arabic and English inscriptions المجلس الوطني الانتقالي / al - Watani al - maǧlis al - intiqālī /, national transitional council, " Transitional National Council and ليبيا / libiya /, Libya ' and Libya.
