Coats of arms of the Holy See and Vatican City

Nevertheless, the coat of arms of Vatican City is both personal coat of arms of the pope as well as the coat of arms of the Holy See ( which in turn is included in the flag of the Vatican City ) to distinguish.

Description

The coat of arms of the Vatican City is the key Petri below the tiara in bands entwine the key ends. Unlike the papal coat of arms and the coat of arms of the Holy See, in the arms of the Vatican City is the beard of the golden key to the right ( = heraldic left).

As in the Papal Coat of Arms tassel occupied ends of the red cord are first wrapped around the intersection of the key and then guided through the key Reiden, from where they hang loosely vertically downwards.

The whole thing is on a red heraldic shield; Red was until 1808 the traditional papal color. 1808 elected Pope Pius VII yellow ( gold) and white as the new papal colors as they are also seen on the flag of the Vatican City.
