Dicobaltphosphid is a chemical compound of cobalt from the group of phosphides. In addition to cobalt ( II) phosphide exist other Cobaltphosphide with the equally gray Cobalttriphosphid COP 3 and Cobaltmonophosphid CoP.
Production and representation
Dicobaltphosphid may ( like the other Cobaltphosphide ) by reaction of a stoichiometric mixture of cobalt with red phosphorus at 650 to 700 ° C are obtained.
Properties
Dicobaltphosphid is a gray solid that is insoluble in water. It is soluble in nitric acid. It has an orthorhombic crystal structure with space group Pnma.
