Harry Cobb Rooney ( born March 23, 1900 in Virginia, Minnesota, USA; † 14 May 1973) was an US- American football player. He played as a blocking back in the National Football League ( NFL). Rooney and his two brothers Joe and Bill played in the years 1924 and 1927 at the same time for the Duluth Kelleys / Eskimos. They are the only three brothers aufliefen the same time for the same football team in the NFL.

Playing career

Cobb Rooney grew up with his brothers Joe and Bill in Virginia, Minnesota. They visited the high school there. In 1924 he became professional football at the Duluth Kelleys, who were trained by Dewey Scanlon. The team from Duluth was initially owned by their players. His two brothers had already joined the team in the preseason. In 1926, the later members in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Walt Kiesling, John McNally and Ernie Nevers the Eskimos were able to bind to the team. However, did not alter the lack of success of the team. Although Nevers in 1927 and taken over as coach, the Eskimos play their operation had to stop after this season due to financial problems.
