Cobresal

Club de Deportes Cobresal is a Chilean football club based in El Salvador. The club was founded in 1979, has never been Chilean football champions to date, currently plays in the Primera División and plays its home matches at the Estadio El Cobre, which seats 20,800 spectators.

History

The Club Club de Deportes Cobresal was founded on 5 May 1979 in the Chilean city of El Salvador in the region of Atacama. One year later, the future venue of the association, the Estadio El Cobre was completed. Though it is clear that the stadium with its more than 20,000 spectators, almost three times as many seats as has the city of El Salvador inhabitants.

CD Cobresal reached only three years after the founding of the club the first promotion to the Primera División, the top division in Chilean football. After the rise in 1982 could be in the premier league establish, just two years later, the Chilean was runner-up, only two points behind Universidad Católica.
