Coccidiphila kasypinkeri

Coccidiphila kasypinkeri is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of the splendor butterfly ( Cosmopterigidae ).

Features

The moths reach a wingspan of 6-7 millimeters. The front wings are ocher yellow. A large, triangular, dark gray Costalstrich extends from the wing base to 2/3 of the blade length. In the middle of the stroke is an ocher- yellow spot. The wide and very obliquely outwards, dark gray line is extended from the apex to the wing inner edge. The fringe scales are ocher- gray and drawn two gray brown lines at the apex. Towards the wing inner edge Frans scales are pale ocher. The hind wings shining pale ocher.

In the males the right brachium is about as long as the Tegumen. It is strongly curved and has a rounded apex. The left brachium short and triangular. The Valven are narrow, the anterior cucullus is enlarged by a triangular projection. The Valvellae are very long and narrow and bent at right angles at the center. The distal portion is tapered gradually. The aedeagus has a slanted tip.

In females, the rear edge of the 7th sternite has a shallow V-shaped bulge. The sterigma is sclerotized trapezoidal and strong. The leading edge is concave. The corpus bursae lacks the comb structures.

Coccidiphila kasypinkeri differs from other species of the genus by the small wingspan and the yellow ocher stain on the dark gray Costalstrich of the front wing.

Dissemination

Coccidiphila kasypinkeri is in the Canary Islands ( Lanzarote, Fuerteventura) home.

Biology

The biology of the species is unknown. Moths were collected in January and in March.
