Coccothrinax yunquensis

Coccothrinax yunquensis is a species of the genus Coccothrinax within the palm family ( Arecaceae ). It comes in southeastern Cuba endemic exclusively on the mountain El Yunque, a limestone mountain in the province of Guantánamo, before. Coccothrinax yunquensis was first described in 1981 by Attila L. Borhidi and Onaney Muñiz Gutierrez in Acta Botanica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae, 27, 1981, p 447.

Some botanists suspect that it is a synonym of Coccothrinax salvatoris Leon at Coccothrinax yunquensis Borhidi & O.Muñiz. Further genetic studies of both types are required in order to create clarity.
