Coco (music)

The Coco is a rhythm and dance of Brazilian music and belongs to música Nordestina, the regional music of the Northeast. The couple dance is based on the baião and was first mentioned in the second half of the 18th century.

Differences are different variations of the Coco: Coco de sertão ( in the Sertão, the hinterland ), Coco de praia ( on the coast ), coco de roda ( circle dance ) and others.

Typical accompanying instruments are flute ( Pífano ), pandeiro, triangle, or zabumba Surdo, Ganzá, and occasionally accordion ( Sanfona ). These simple texts are sung.
