As Code Point is related to character sets (such as ASCII or Unicode ) a value in a code space (code space) respectively.

The code space is generally represented by integers. The code space of the ASCII character set comprises 0-127 in decimal (hexadecimal: 0 -7F ), the code space of Unicode character set includes decimal 0-1114111 (hexadecimal: 0 - 10FFFF ). The letter A ( uppercase A of the Latin alphabet ) has in both character sets the code point in decimal 65 (hex 41 ). Character sets abstract signs (abstract characters) are associated with code points. The compound is referred to as a coded mark (encoded character).
