Codex Petropolitanus Purpureus

The Codex purpureus Petropolitanus ( Gregory -Aland no N or 022; von Soden ε 19 ) is a Greek manuscript of the New Testament, which is dated to the 6th century. The manuscript is a Purple Code.

Description

It consists of the four Gospels on 231 parchment leaves Purple (32 x 27 cm ), but the Codex is missing some parts of the Gospels. The text is in two columns of 16 lines and is written in large letters. It can be calculated that the original codex contained 462 leaves. It contains the Eusebischen canon.

The nomina sacra abbreviated and written in gold ( ΙΣ, ΘΣ, ΚΣ, ΥΣ, and ΣΩΤΗΡ ).
