Cody Eakin

Cody Eakin (born 24 May 1991, Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player in the position of striker. Since July 2012, he stands Stars of the National Hockey League contract with the Dallas.

Career

Eakin was the Western Hockey League ( WHL) Bantam Draft selected during 2006 in the first round in sixth position of the Swift Current Broncos. The player completed yet another season for a junior team from his hometown of Winnipeg and moved late in the WHL season 2006/ 07 to the Broncos, for whom he regularly came into use from the following season. NHL Entry Draft 2009, he was selected in the third round to 85th position overall by the Washington Capitals. His personally successful season of the Western Hockey League had the offensive player in the 2009/10 season, when he was able to achieve 47 goals and 91 points scorer in 71 games.

On January 9, 2011, Swift Current Broncos him transferred in exchange for five players and three draft picks to the Kootenay Ice. With the Ice Eakin won in the 2010/11 season the Ed Chynoweth Cup, the championship trophy of the WHL. During the subsequent Memorial Cup 2011, he defeated the Kootenay Ice in the semifinals the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.

In the season 2011/12 Eakin was first used for the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League action; the majority of the season he spent at Washington's farm team in Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. On June 22, 2012 Cody Eakin was transferred together with a second-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 by the Capitals to Dallas Stars. Washington received in return Mike Ribeiro.

Internationally

Eakin represented his country with the Canadian national team for the first time at the U18 Junior World Championship 2009, where he finished fourth with his team. In the U20 World Youth Championship 2011, he won with the Canadians after a final defeat against the Russian team the silver medal.
