Cody McLeod

Cody McLeod ( born June 26, 1984 in Binscarth, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is in the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League plays in the position of left winger since 2007.

Career

Cody McLeod, who was never drafted, started his career as a hockey player with the Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League, for whom he played from 2001 to 2005 a total of four years. During this time he also came to his pro debut when he for Adirondack Frostbite of the United Hockey League played at the end of the 2004/05 season six games. The Canadians played in the following season both for the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League, as well as for the San Diego Gulls of the ECHL.

In July 2006, the winger was given as a free agent contract with the Colorado Avalanche. In his first year he came, however, only in the AHL for which at that time the farm team, the Albany River Rats used. The 2007/08 season began with the McLeod Lake Erie Monsters, the new AHL farm team the Avalanche. His debut in the National Hockey League gave the Canadians on 19 December 2007 in a game against the Anaheim Ducks. Eight days later, against the Detroit Red Wings he achieved his first goal in the NHL.
