The Hohewarte (Italian: Monte Coglians, friul. Colians ) is at an altitude of 2780 m above sea level. A. the highest peak of the Carnic Alps and situated on the border between Carinthia and the Italian province of Udine. The Hohewarte forms, with the subsequent peaks east basement waiting, basement wall tower and the basement tips to the Kollinkofel north side of an imposing, closed wall escape that breaks between 650 m to 1200 m Valentintörl and the Upper Valentinalm.

Development

The first ascent of the Hohenwarte took place on September 30, 1865 by Paul Grohmann, together with Nicolò Sottocorona from Collina and the farmer Hofer from pear iG Collina from .. This path corresponds to today's normal route.

Starting point for an ascent is either the Marinellihütte ( Rifugio Giovanni e Olinto Marinelli ) to 2120 m slm on the south side of the unschwierigen, but sure-footed presupposing rise from the south, the path of the first Steiger, or Wolayerseehütte (1967 m above sea level. A. ) as a starting point for the more difficult, sparse insured with ropes way through the north wall (a few places UIAA II, I), the Koban - Prunner way.

A new via ferrata which is one of the most difficult climb of the Carnic Alps, the way the 26er, was built by the Battalion 26 of the Austrian Armed Forces. But this route is rockfall risk.
