Cognos

Cognos, An IBM Company is a software company that provides performance management and business performance management solutions. The headquarters is located in Ottawa, Canada. In Germany there is the corporate headquarters in Frankfurt am Main.

On 31 January 2008, IBM announced the completion of its acquisition of Cognos.

Cognos was founded in 1969 under the name Quasar and renamed in 1982 in its present name. Currently, the company employs approximately 3,500 people and supports more than 20,000 customers almost anywhere in the world.

Cognos offers solutions for business intelligence, planning, performance management and corporate consolidation. Competitors are Oracle (including Hyperion Solutions), SAP (including Business Objects, Cartesis ), SAS Institute and Microsoft.

In addition, the company will host the Cognos Performance, one of the biggest events on Performance Management in Germany.
