Coigneux

Coigneux ( Picard: Cognu ) is a northern French village with 49 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality belongs to the canton Acheux -en- Amiénois and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays du Coquelicot.

Geography

The community on the northern edge of the Picardie is located at the Department D175E road between Sailly -au -Bois in the east and in the west Couin ( both already in the Pas -de- Calais ). In Coigneux springs the authie at the Fontaine du Rossignol.

History

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.

Attractions

  • The rebuilt after the First World War, Church Saint- Gery, which had been destroyed in an ammunition explosion in 1920.
  • A circa 1660 by Henri de La Tour d' Auvergne, vicomte de Turenne Linden tree planted on the border between Coigneux and Couin, with a statue of Our Lady of Consolation in a niche.

Personalities

  • Jean -Baptiste Alexandre Cavrois (1774 - 1820), Brigadier General under Napoleon, was born here.
