Col de Jaman

The Col de Jaman ( 1,512 m) is a mountain pass in Switzerland and runs from the west which are situated further from the village of Lake Geneva Les Avants above Montreux in the region Gruyères. About him the watershed between the Rhine (via Sarine ) and Rhone runs. The pass is located on the Vaud canton, cantonal border to Freiburg is located approximately one kilometer east of 1300 meters.

South of the pass, which belongs to the Vaud Alps Dent de Jaman is ( 1,875 m), north of the Cape au Moine as part of the Pre-Alps. The passport on which there is a mountain restaurant and a hut of the Swiss Alpine Club, represents the boundary between the mountain groups

Traffic

Previously, the mule track was over the pass for the transport of Gruyere from Intyamon and Pays -d'Enhaut to the shores of Lake Geneva. About 10 hours were required for the route of Montbovon to Vevey. Today, the Col de Jaman is not safe for winter, which is provided with bituminous surfacing motorable road leads to the west side up on top of the pass. The not provided with bituminous surfacing carriage road on the east side is occupied by a ban on motor vehicles. The railway Montreux- Lenk im Simmental crosses the mountain range about 300m below the summit in Jaman 2424M long tunnel between Les Avants and Les Cases.
