Colbert Michael Hamels (* December 27, 1983 in San Diego, California) is an American pitcher in Major League Baseball. The left-hander plays in the National League with the Philadelphia Phillies.

High School and Draft

During his time in high school in San Diego Hamels was observed by some teams. At that time, stood out above all the speed of his fastball, which he (about 150 km / h) threw already during this school with a maximum speed of 94 mph. After Hamels, however, in the Junior Year broke his arm, lost a few teams, including the Padres from Hamels hometown interest. Despite all that Hamels was selected in the first round of the draft in 2002 by the Philadelphia Phillies.
