Coleochaete
The Coleochaete is a genus of green algae from the group of Charophyta. They grow worldwide in fresh water on solid surfaces (eg rock) or to water plants in the form of flat discs. Their representatives are haploid and reproduce asexually.
The Coleochaete apply in addition to Chara as the closest relative of land plants among the green algae.
